Our Montessori Preschool in Lake Oswego
Located in the Rivergrove area of Lake Oswego, Community Montessori School offers a preschool experience rooted in respect, joy, and discovery. Since 2010, we’ve been committed to providing a safe, welcoming space where young children can grow at their own pace. CMS offers enrollment for ages 2-6 *expanding to include toddlers ages 14mo-2 in Fall of 2026*

At CMS, we follow the time-tested principles of Dr. Maria Montessori. Our Montessori school nurtures independence, curiosity, and confidence in children ages 2–6. Children are free to explore, make choices, and engage deeply in purposeful work — all in a calm, respectful environment designed to support their natural development. We believe early childhood is the foundation for lifelong learning, and we honor each child’s unique rhythm and interests through individualized, hands-on learning experiences.

CMS is owned and guided by Ginger Barker, a certified AMI teacher of 20 years. Ginger holds a BA in Social Science from PSU and a Masters in Education from Endicott. CMS adheres to the ideals and proven learning methods of Dr. Maria Montessori, while offering flexible scheduling and unique programs.
